TAT Marathon

It’s not about a quick dash of spiritual boost, it’s not about a sprint of church activity, it’s not about a rush of good deeds. It’s about faithfulness.

Can you still put your faith in Jesus in dark times, will you still go back to Him when you walk away?

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7

TAT No Suffering

Who says that christian will have a successful and rich life? Who says that christian will live in abundance of money?
Who says that christian will never suffer?

If even our God suffered, and asked us to carry our own cross, how can we expect for no suffering?

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

(Matthew 16:24-25 ESV)

TAT Chinese New Year

But of course all things are lawful but not everything are building,
and  from 1 Timothy 4 “For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.”

But there are things that’s okay because it’s just observing culture, and there are things that plainly idolatry, the one that I draw are the conditions that I face as Indonesian who has Chinese descent and but foremostly a Christian. My parents would sometimes told me to eat food offered to their deities or light some incense or candles. But of course I reject it because I don’t want them to think that I’ll make any compromise for God :)

How about you guys? Any culture that clash with your faith?

Nian – The Chinese Year

Nian

Nian- which means “year” in english, the chinese myth describe Nian as a mythical beast who eats the crops and attack people in the past. Every spring Nian would come out and attack the human. To protect themselves, the villager then put foods and offering outside their house, Nian would then eat those food and won’t attack them anymore. Thus happens every year, every spring festival, people would put offering for Nian. Nian also is afraid of red color, so that’s why on spring festival people would wear red.

That’s is the mythology of chinese new year! How cool is that? :D
